About the Role
Shift Time: Thursday, 10pm-Saturday, 6am
Volunteers on this crew work in shifts. They set fire to the pork pit on Thursday evening. Early Friday morning, they retrieve the outdoor cooking equipment from storage and clean it, then prepare and put the pork on the pit around 10am where it cooks until around 3am Saturday morning.
This crew also boils the picnic hams and beef chuck that will be used to make the hash. This occurs during the day on Friday finishing up by 5pm. Before leaving, the crew thoroughly cleans all their equipment for use by the Rice Crew, which starts at 6pm.
Requirements
Good stamina is needed to fulfill this role.
Being able to stand for long periods of time, bending, stooping, loading and unloading are all part of this job.
This job also requires you to be around smoke and extreme temperatures.
Must be willing to work in inclement weather.
