Whether understood literally or metaphorically, we are in a continual search for Higher Ground. It is a place upon which we can stake a claim, where we can get a clear vision of the land around us, and where we can move/act out of that perspective.
This dynamic is at work in MANY of the events of the Bible, and the motif of Higher Ground is a perfect one for talking about what it means to be near the presence of God, to find our footing in the places to which He calls us, and to work from Higher Ground in the world around us.
August 4 – Deuteronomy 34:1-8 – Higher Ground is God’s Choosing
August 11 – Psalm 46:1-7 – Higher Ground provides a God’s-Eye View
August 18 – Philippians 2:4-11 – Higher Ground is where Jesus Christ is Lord
August 25 – Acts 8:26-40 – Higher Ground reverberates with the power of the Holy Spirit
