Objectives:
1. SPIRITUALLY
We want each child to know that God is our creator, that God loves us and watches over us, that Jesus is God’s Son, and that the Bible is God’s word to us. Your child will learn these things through grace and forgiveness, Bible stories and verses, songs, and the example set by the teacher.
2. PHYSICALLY
We give each child opportunity to develop their large and small motor skills that are appropriate to their age level. Each child will develop by playing games and participating in teacher directed but child centered activities.
3. SOCIALLY
We provide a safe environment that allows preschoolers to interact with others preschoolers and adults. Each child will have opportunities to be in the company of others who have similarities and differences.
4. MENTALLY
We provide a planned program that is age appropriate. Activities will mentally challenge and stimulate, but not frustrate.
5. EMOTIONALLY
We provide a secure environment that builds a child’s self-esteem. Preschoolers experience that they are somebody special.
Goals: (On an age appropriate basis)
I. GOOD SELF CONCEPT:
Describes own feelings, takes care of own belongings, shares wants and needs, responds when asked a question, washes & dries hands, finishes a task, feels proud of his or her work. Help each child understand that God made them and He loves them. Each child is taught they are special because they are unique and wonderfully made.
II. SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL GROWTH:Accepts responsibility, accepts routine of classroom,explores and experiments with the environment, gets involved in class activities, shares materials, waits for his or her turn, works out problem with peers, accepts defeat without sulking, accepts class rules, cooperates with group. III. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Learns to ask questions and that questions may have many answers, Learns some questions cannot be answered with a "yes" or "no", learns to think deeply (what happens next in a story), learns to keep working on a problem, learns to take time to think out a problem. IV. PHYSICAL GROWTH: Eye -hand coordination: cutting with scissors, using pencils, crayons, & brushes. Left to right progression: Turning pages of a book, working puzzles and pegboard. Development of large muscles: running, jumping, bouncing balls, etc. Development of small muscles: Manipulates small objects, molds play dough, assembles puzzles, strings beads, feels different textures & shapes, paste objects, etc.
