Mission Possible![]() The “Mission Possible” team started in the fall of 2010 in conjunction with Wednesday Night Unplugged. It began as a vision to put our faith into action. “Mission Possible” offers members an opportunity to serve in short term mission projects each week. Projects include home-based, community, and outward missions.
Some of the projects “Mission Possible” has supported this year with the support of our church family are:
- Helping the Oliver Gospel Mission serve the homeless for Easter & Thanksgiving - Helping the Good Samaritan Clinic reach the uninsured of the community & providing medical supplies & equipment - Stuffing Eggs with God Squad for Church Easter Egg Hunt - Stocking the Church Food Pantry for needy friends in the area - Playing Bingo and visiting senior citizens at Agape Lexington & Agape Harbison - Replacing light bulbs for seniors - Collecting & sending needed supplies to the Military - Sponsoring “Pay It Forward” outreach ministry within the congregation - Sponsoring “Laundromat Night” by sharing quarters and detergent with friends in the community - Delivering wood to needy families during the cold winter months - Sponsoring Coffee/Hot Chocolate Sunday for Oliver Gospel Mission - Preparing & serving food for Hispanic ESOL students at Brookland United Methodist Church - Collecting & mailing medical supplies to missionaries in Zambia, Africa - Delivering snack baskets to local hospital for people in waiting rooms and hospital staff - Delivering cookies to "first responder" firefighters and police officers - Writing letters of encouragement and support to Military - Sponsoring church-wide “Blanket Sunday” for Goforth Mission Project - Helping design and build eight garden plots for nearby Hispanic Community Garden With each outreach project, we use a “Connection Card,” which simply states, “THIS IS OUR SIMPLE WAY TO SAY GOD LOVES YOU. WE LOOK FORWARD TO CONNECTING WITH YOU AGAIN SOON.” The back of the card contains details of Mt. Hebron’s worship service times and contact information.
“Mission Possible” is not a closed group, but an open, inviting group, ready to go and impact our church, our community, and our world for Christ. If you would like to join us, please come on Wednesday evenings at the designated hour for Wednesday Night Unplugged (September - May). We want to thank the Mt. Hebron Church Family for being the hands and feet of Jesus Christ, as we together reach out in Missions through “Mission Possible.” If you would like to participate or help in any way or if you have an idea for a Mission Project, please contact Mary Gale or I. D. Hook at 803-796-1581 or ehook@sc.rr.com.
